PM Modi meets Bill Gates, says ‘Covid was not government vs virus, but life vs virus

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his conversation with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, discussed the measures taken by his government to address vaccine-related rumors during the COVID-19 pandemic in India.

When Gates inquired about how PM Modi managed communication during the pandemic, specifically addressing the control of vaccine rumors in India compared to other regions, PM Modi emphasized the importance of public education and direct communication. He stated, “Firstly, I compelled people to understand that the fight against the virus involves everyone. It’s not about the virus versus the government, but life versus the virus.” PM Modi highlighted his commitment to transparent communication by personally adhering to all protocols in public.

PM Modi emphasized the role of trust-building between the government and the people through his actions. He explained, “I publicly demonstrated various actions to set an example for the people. From clanging vessels to lighting lamps, I encouraged participation despite some attempts to ridicule such efforts. It was crucial to instill confidence in people that we are in this fight together.” PM Modi underscored the importance of democratic engagement, stating that persuasion and education are essential in a democracy.

Furthermore, PM Modi expressed his commitment to addressing cervical cancer if his government is re-elected. He outlined his vision to allocate funds for local research on cervical cancer vaccines and ensure widespread vaccination for girls in India. PM Modi emphasized his focus on investing in research and development in this area.

The discussion between PM Modi and Bill Gates covered various critical topics, including Artificial Intelligence, climate change, and women’s empowerment, reflecting their shared commitment to addressing global challenges.
