PM Modi inaugurates Terminal 2 in Bengaluru

The Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport at Bengaluru has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

The cost of Kempegowda International Airport is around 5,000 crore which has a capacity of 5-6 crore passengers per annum.

The PMO said, “The Airport has already established a benchmark in sustainability with 100 percent usage of renewable energy across the campus. Terminal 2 has been created with sustainability principles woven into the design. Based on the sustainability initiatives, Terminal 2 will be the largest terminal in the world to be pre-certified platinum rating by US GBC (green building council) prior to commencing operations. The theme of ‘Naurasa’ unites all the commissioned artworks for Terminal 2. The artworks reflect the heritage and culture of Karnataka as well as the broader Indian ethos.”

Meanwhile, by four guiding principles Terminal, 2 has been influenced- Terminal in a garden, sustainability, technology, and art and culture.

Terminal 2 is made for the passenger to experience a “walk in the garden” as it is a tribute to the Garden city of Bengaluru. The passenger will experience green walls, hanging gardens, and outdoor gardens which are covered in 10000+ square meters.

Moreover, with the sustainability principles woven Terminal 2 has been created, and with 100 percent usage of renewable energy, the Airport has been created.

However, at noon 108 feet bronze statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda will be unveiled. Later at 12:30 public function will be held followed by attending the 36th Convocation ceremony of Gandhigram Rural Institute at Dindigul in Tamil Nadu.

Earlier, in the day Vande Bharat Express Chennai-Mysuru was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Railway Station in Bengaluru on Friday.
