Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated SEMICON India 2024 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday. The three-day conference, running from September 11 to 13, is themed “Shaping the Semiconductor Future” and highlights India’s strategy to become a global center for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development.

The event will feature over 250 exhibitors and 150 speakers, showcasing India’s semiconductor strategy and policies. It brings together top leaders from the global semiconductor industry, including major corporations and experts.

In addition to the conference, Larsen & Toubro Ltd has announced plans to invest over $300 million in creating a semiconductor company, joining other Indian conglomerates in expanding the country’s semiconductor sector.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s potential to become a key partner in a diversified semiconductor supply chain. He assured that the government would maintain a predictable and stable policy environment. Modi made these remarks during a Semiconductor Executives’ Roundtable at his residence, where he noted that their contributions will significantly impact both their businesses and India’s future.
