PM Modi Expresses Grief Over Death Of 18 Laborers In A Tragic Accident in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and wished a swift recovery for the injured following a tragic incident in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district on Monday. The accident, which occurred near the village of Bahpani in the Kukdur police station area, resulted in the death of 18 laborers when a pickup truck plunged into a ditch.

Taking to his official X handle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “The road accident in Kawardha, Chhattisgarh is extremely painful. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this accident.”

He added, “Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way.”

Approximately 25 laborers returning after collecting tendu leaves were involved in an accident when their pickup truck fell into a ditch. Kawardha SP, Abhishek Pallav, reported the latest update, confirming that 18 people died and four were injured in the incident near Kawardha. Initially, the Kawardha SP had stated that 15 individuals, including 14 women and one man, had lost their lives.

Following the incident, Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Vijay Sharma expressed his condolences and assured that all possible assistance would be provided to the victims and their families.

“The news of the death of 15 people due to the overturning of a pick-up vehicle full of workers in Kawardha is extremely painful. My condolences are with all the families who have lost their loved ones in this accident. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible assistance to the victims and their families,” Vijay Sharma wrote in a post on X.

Chhattisgarh Congress President Deepak Baij urged the state government to promptly provide compensation to the families of the victims.

“The news of the tragic death of 15 workers returning from Pandriya after plucking tendu leaves in a road accident is disturbing. Humble tributes to all the deceased, there is information that some workers have also been injured in this accident, I request the administration to make proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured. The families of the deceased should be given compensation by the government without delay,” Baij wrote on X.
