PM Modi Concludes Three-Day US Visit, Departs For India

After a three-day visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for India on Monday (local time) from John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.

During his trip, PM Modi participated in the QUAD Leaders’ Summit, engaged with the Indian diaspora at the ‘Modi and US’ event, and addressed the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly. He also held crucial bilateral meetings, including discussions with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas.

On the first day of his visit, Saturday, PM Modi attended the sixth QUAD Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by US President Joe Biden, alongside Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia and Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan. The leaders adopted the Quad Wilmington Declaration, recognizing the Quad as a “force of global good.”

Later, PM Modi traveled to New York, where he addressed the Indian community at Nassau Coliseum on Sunday. He expressed his gratitude to the city and the attendees, sharing moments from the event. “Thank you, New York! These are glimpses from the memorable community programme. Grateful to all those who joined,” he posted on X.

During his visit, PM Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, where he expressed his “deep concerns” regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza and reiterated India’s ongoing support for the Palestinian people. He also held bilateral meetings with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

On Monday, PM Modi addressed the 79th United Nations General Assembly’s ‘Summit of the Future,’ discussing various issues, including the importance of safe and responsible technology use. He stated that Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) should serve as a bridge rather than a barrier. He identified cyber, maritime, and space as new emerging areas of conflict, emphasizing that “global action must match global ambition.”

Moreover, PM Modi called for reforms in global institutions, describing them as “the key to relevance.” He affirmed India’s commitment to protecting the interests of humanity, stating that ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’ reflects the country’s dedication. He also engaged in a bilateral discussion with Vietnamese President To Lam.

Additionally, on Sunday, PM Modi interacted with leading tech executives and CEOs in a roundtable hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Engineering in New York.
