PM Modi Calls for India’s Rise as Global Animation Powerhouse in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Address

In the 115th episode of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the potential for India to become a “global animation powerhouse.” He emphasized that India is on the cusp of a significant transformation in the animation and gaming sectors. “We must resolve to make India a global animation powerhouse,” PM Modi declared, underscoring the role of innovation and creativity in these fields.

Success of Indian Animated Characters and Content

Referencing popular Indian animated characters like Chhota Bheem, Krishna, Motu Patlu, and Bal Hanuman, PM Modi noted that they have garnered a global fan base due to their engaging content and creativity. He also pointed out the expanding international appeal of Indian animation, which has now reached audiences worldwide.

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the remarkable growth of India’s gaming industry, which has experienced rapid global expansion. He noted that Indian-made games are gaining fame on the global stage, with the country’s creativity and talent contributing to this burgeoning field. He further added, “From smartphones to cinema screens and from gaming consoles to virtual reality, animation is everywhere.”

PM Modi recounted his recent meeting with some of India’s leading game developers and designers. He shared his admiration for the high quality and creativity found in Indian gaming, describing it as a “wave of creative energy” across the nation. According to the Prime Minister, both “Made in India” and “Made by Indians” content have become internationally recognized symbols of India’s capabilities in the animation sector.

Indian Talent Recognized Globally

Modi also highlighted the contribution of Indian talent to major foreign productions, mentioning animator Harinarayan Rajiv’s work on popular movies like Spider-Man and Transformers. He stated that India’s animation studios are collaborating with globally renowned companies like Disney and Warner Brothers, a testament to the country’s growing reputation in the animation industry.

Looking ahead to World Animation Day on October 28, PM Modi encouraged Indians to seize the moment, saying, “We must resolve to make India a global animation powerhouse.” He lauded the cultural depth of Indian animation, with youth-driven content that is widely watched and admired globally. Virtual reality tourism, he noted, is an industry on the rise, benefiting from the innovative developments in the animation sector, which itself is helping drive other industries forward.
