Popular singer Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on Friday at the age of 52. The singer was taking part in a scuba diving activity when he reportedly fell into the sea. He was rescued and admitted to the ICU, but later died.
According to reports, Garg was in Singapore to perform at the North East Festival later in the day. His untimely demise has shocked fans across India, especially in Assam, where he was regarded as one of the most iconic voices of the region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shock over the sudden loss. He said the singer’s contribution to Indian music will always be remembered.
