PM Modi: A Global Voice for India

During his visit to Guyana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a Special Session of the Guyanese Parliament on November 21st, marking another milestone in his expansive diplomatic efforts.

This will be the 14th time PM Modi has spoken in foreign Parliaments, a record number for any Indian prime minister. He now holds the distinction of delivering the most addresses to foreign legislative bodies, surpassing his predecessors.

In comparison, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave seven such addresses, while Indira Gandhi spoke in foreign legislatures four times, and Jawaharlal Nehru did so three times. Rajiv Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee each addressed foreign Parliaments twice, with others like Morarji Desai and PV Narasimha Rao speaking once.

PM Modi’s speeches have spanned continents, highlighting India’s expanding global influence. Notably, he has addressed the U.S. Congress twice—once in 2016 and again in 2023. In 2014, he spoke in the Parliaments of Australia and Fiji, followed by his address to the British Parliament in 2015.

His influence has also reached Africa, where he addressed the National Assembly of Mauritius in 2015 and Uganda’s Parliament in 2018. In Asia, his engagements include the joint sessions of the Bhutanese Parliament and Nepal Constituent Assembly in 2014, as well as speeches to the Parliaments of Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Afghanistan, and the Maldives, further solidifying his role as a prominent global voice for India.
