The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a flagship government scheme launched to provide direct financial support to small and marginal farmers across India. Under this initiative, eligible farmers receive an annual income support of ₹6,000, distributed in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. The scheme aims to supplement farmers’ income for proper crop health and ensure their livelihoods by reducing dependency on informal money lenders. Payments are made directly into the farmer’s bank accounts linked with their Aadhaar number, ensuring transparency and timely disbursement.

Who is Eligible for the Scheme?

To qualify for the PM Kisan scheme, a farmer must be a landholder owning cultivable land as per the land records updated by February 1, 2019. The scheme excludes institutional landholders and families of certain categories such as current and former constitutional office holders, Union and State Ministers, Members of Parliament, government employees drawing pensions above ₹10,000 per month, income taxpayers, and active professionals like doctors and lawyers. The beneficiary must be an Indian citizen with an authenticated Aadhaar-linked bank account. The cut-off date for eligibility is fixed, and no landholding changes are considered for five years.

How to Apply for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi?

Farmers can apply for the scheme through multiple channels:

  • Online self-registration on the official PM-Kisan portal (pmkisan.gov.in) via the New Farmer Registration section by submitting Aadhaar details, bank account information, and landholdings.
  • Assistance at Common Service Centres (CSCs) spread across the country, where farmers can get help in filling out the application.
  • Using the PM-KISAN mobile app, which also offers features like e-KYC through face authentication to simplify the process.

Applicants must complete the e-KYC process to receive payments. Corrections to submitted details can be made through the portal or CSCs. On approval, the benefits are credited directly in the bank account.

21st Instalment Date of PM Kisan Yojana 2025

The 21st instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is expected to be released in October 2025, just before the Diwali festival. The government generally disburses instalments every four months, with the previous 20th instalment paid on August 2, 2025. Farmers who have completed the mandatory online KYC will receive ₹2,000 credited to their accounts in this instalment. The payment schedule follows the prescribed intervals to ensure continuous support throughout the year.

Government Data on PM Kisan Scheme

Since its launch, the PM Kisan scheme has benefited millions of farmers nationwide, with the government emphasising transparency and efficiency through digital monitoring. According to official data, the scheme operates under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, reaching out to all eligible small and marginal farmers. The total annual disbursement per beneficiary is ₹6,000, phased in three payments every four months. The government continuously updates beneficiary records and monitors physical and financial progress through web-enabled systems to ensure the scheme’s effective implementation.

In summary, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an important step towards empowering India’s farmers by providing timely financial assistance to ease their burdens and promote agricultural sustainability. The upcoming 21st instalment set for October 2025 continues this support, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the welfare of the farming community.
