A 50-year-old man from the Amraiwadi area of Ahmedabad, identified as Arvind Parmar, tragically passed away after undergoing angioplasty at a private hospital in Bapunagar under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). The incident occurred on Sunday, December 1, and has led to allegations of medical negligence by Parmar’s family.
According to reports, Parmar, a daily wage laborer, experienced chest pain around 4:30 AM and was rushed to the hospital. After an initial evaluation, doctors diagnosed him with heart-related issues and advised him to return at 10 AM when a cardiologist would be available. In the meantime, Parmar was prescribed preliminary medication, including blood thinners.
Upon his return, a cardiologist identified blockages ranging from 40% to 90% in three arteries, leading to an immediate recommendation for angiography and angioplasty. Following the procedure, Parmar was shifted to the ICU and reportedly remained stable for about 30 minutes before complaining of chest pain and uneasiness. Despite immediate medical intervention, he could not be saved.
Parmar’s family has accused the hospital of negligence and called for a fair investigation into his death. Police officials confirmed that the hospital has provided a videographic recording of the angioplasty, which will be examined by experts as part of the ongoing probe.
