Tragedy struck during the Amarnath Yatra in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, late on Tuesday night, as a pilgrim lost consciousness and subsequently passed away at Sheshnag Pahalgam. The deceased, identified as Davender Verma, aged 51 and hailing from Lucknow, reportedly fell unconscious and succumbed to his condition.
According to official sources revealed to The Daily Guardian, Davender Verma, son of Babu Lal, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the sudden loss of consciousness. Following necessary medico-legal procedures, the body was handed over to his legal heirs for the final rites.
Authorities have confirmed that appropriate measures are being taken in light of the incident. The Amarnath Yatra, a revered pilgrimage, draws thousands of devotees annually to the sacred cave shrine of Lord Shiva in the Himalayas, where such unfortunate incidents, while rare, underscore the challenges and risks associated with the arduous journey.
