Persistent Clouds in NCR for next 12-18 hours says IMD

The India Meteorological Department’s Senior Scientist, RK Jenamani, linked the cloud cover shrouding New Delhi to a western disturbance caused by intense circulation over Central Pakistan, indicating that these conditions will persist until tomorrow.

“The weather in Delhi is currently cloudy and is expected to last for the next 12-18 hours,” asserted IMD Senior Scientist RK Jenamani. “Clear skies are expected tomorrow, with a 2 to 3-degree drop in nighttime temperatures.” Fog is expected to worsen in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab beginning November 28.”

Jenamani added that the moisture intake from the Arabian Sea is diminishing, with the clouds moving towards Uttar Pradesh and central India. Recent heavy rainfall across Gujarat, northern Maharashtra, parts of Madhya Pradesh, and southern Rajasthan was observed over the last 36 hours. Thunderstorm and hailstorm alerts have been issued for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, and eastern Madhya Pradesh, expected until tomorrow morning as the Western Disturbance weakens.

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), unseasonal rainfall in Gujarat over the weekend claimed 24 lives and killed 71 animals. Lightning strikes killed people in various districts, and injuries were also reported.

The weather service had issued forecasts three days in advance, predicting rain and strong winds across South Gujarat, Saurashtra, and North Gujarat.
