People Panic, Screams And Run Off Bihar Bridge As Kosi River Overflows | Watch

Amid heavy rainfall and a worsening flood situation in Bihar, major rivers like the Kosi and Bagmati are now flowing above the danger level. The rising water levels over the past few days have prompted the government to warn people against visiting low-lying areas, particularly near these rivers.

A video shared by Rajya Sabha MP and Congress spokesperson Ranjeet Ranjan captures the chaos as dozens of terrified people are seen fleeing from a bridge when the Kosi river’s fast-moving water begins to touch its surface. “The river is in spate due to the rising water level of the Kosi dam. In this regard, my humble appeal to all the residents of Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar, and Navgachiya is to stay away from the dam and strictly follow the high alert issued by the district administration,” he said, urging residents to prioritize safety.

In the footage, people—many of them women—are seen running and screaming as they hurriedly attempt to get off the bridge. Security personnel are also present, helping to evacuate women, men, and children from the dangerous situation. Despite the panic, some people are seen taking photos and videos as they rush to safety. As the camera captures the scene, the river can be seen raging and submerging the surrounding areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Bihar, warning of more heavy rainfall in the coming days. The floods have already affected over 16 lakh people, with districts like West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Patna, Jehanabad, Madhubani, Araria, Purnea, Katihar, and Bhojpur severely impacted.
