The Samajwadi Party has announced the national and state presidents of its four frontal organisations in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Following the directions of SP president Akhilesh Yadav, the national and state presidents of the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, Samajwadi Lohia Vahini, Samajwadi Yuva Jan Sabha, and Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade were declared on Wednesday. The impact of the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) formula can also be seen in this announcement.
For the Samajwadi Lohia Vahini, Abhishek Yadav has been appointed as the national president. The party expressed confidence in Dr Imran for the position of the national president of the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha. Siddharth Singh has been given the responsibility of the national president of Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade, while Mo. Fahad has been appointed as the national president of the Samajwadi Yuva Jan Sabha. Similarly, for the state presidents of these four frontal organisations, Arvind Giri has been assigned the responsibility from the Samajwadi Yuva Jan Sabha, and Ramkaran Nirmal has been appointed from the Samajwadi Lohia Vahini. Anis Raja has been named as the state president of Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade, while Vinit Kushwaha has been trusted by Akhilesh Yadav as the state president of the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha.
According to political experts, the list of declared national and state presidents of the Samajwadi Party’s frontal organizations indicates a significant influence of the PDA over the party’s strategy. Additionally, the presence of three Muslims among the eight names announced could also be an answer to BJP’s attempt to make inroads with marginalised communities. Akhilesh will, for example, not want to lose the support of the Muslim community, which played a crucial role in the party’s substantial vote share in the previous Assembly elections. Therefore, in distributing responsibilities within the frontal organisations, the party president seems to be strategically balancing various sections of society.
