Pawan Kalyan Undertakes 3-Day Footmarch To Tirumala

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has embarked on a significant three-day footmarch to Tirumala. This journey is part of his 11-day penance to appease Lord Venkateswara in response to serious allegations regarding the famous Tirupati laddoos. Kalyan is determined to address these concerns while reinforcing his commitment to the protection of Sanatana Dharma.

A Journey of Penitence

Pawan Kalyan commenced his footmarch from Alipiri, taking the pedestrian pathway to Tirumala. He plans to stay overnight and will seek darshan (the divine sight) of Lord Venkateswara tomorrow. This penance not only reflects his dedication to spiritual practices but also serves as a platform for his political stance on the preservation of Hindu traditions.

Kalyan stated, “This is not just about one prasad issue (laddu adulteration). Maybe it came out. Maybe this was a triggering point to initiate this. Prayaschitta Deeksha (penance) is a commitment to take forward the protection of Sanatana Dharma. It is very essential.”

Controversy Surrounding the Tirupati Laddoos

The controversy began with allegations that the Tirupati laddoos were adulterated with animal fat during the tenure of former Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy. Kalyan has been vocal in defending the integrity of the prasad and has taken a strong stance against anyone who downplays the issue.

In response to the rising tensions, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the allegations. However, the probe was stalled following a Supreme Court directive for the Solicitor General to review the central government’s stance on the investigation.

Naidu claimed, “Many not-so-sacred things were done at Tirumala over the last five years,” emphasizing his commitment to cleaning up the system.

Laboratory Findings Raise Concerns

Recent developments include a lab report from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), which revealed that samples of ghee from Tirupati tested positive for fish oil, beef tallow, and lard. This report has intensified scrutiny and public concern regarding the quality and purity of the famous laddoos.

The controversy escalated when Naidu, at a NDA Legislators meeting, confirmed the use of animal fat in the preparation of the laddoos, prompting further outrage among devotees and stakeholders.

Conclusion

Pawan Kalyan’s footmarch to Tirumala symbolizes more than just a physical journey; it is a commitment to uphold the values of Sanatana Dharma and address the pressing concerns surrounding the iconic Tirupati laddoos. As he moves forward with his penance, the implications of this controversy continue to unfold, highlighting the intersection of faith and politics in Andhra Pradesh.
