Passenger Stabs Bengaluru Bus Conductor After Being Asked To Move Away From Doors

A 23-year-old man was arrested in Bengaluru after stabbing a bus conductor following a dispute over standing near the vehicle’s automatic doors. The conductor, Yogesh, 45, was hospitalized but is now out of danger, according to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

The incident, captured on video, shows Harsh Sinha, a Jharkhand native, attacking the conductor and threatening passengers. The footage, which has gone viral, cannot be independently verified by NDTV. As per a PTI report, Harsh, recently fired from a BPO firm and unemployed for three weeks, confessed to police that frustration over losing his job led to the violent outburst.

Police reported that the incident occurred near the ITPL bus stop when Yogesh asked Harsh to move away from the footboard as he was obstructing passengers. The confrontation escalated when Harsh pulled a knife from his bag and stabbed the conductor.

Panic ensued as passengers fled the bus. In the viral video, Harsh is seen threatening others while the bus driver, Siddalingaswamy, locked the doors and jumped out, trapping Harsh inside. In an attempt to escape, Harsh kicked and broke the glass doors, but police were called and arrested him.

The police confirmed that Yogesh sustained multiple stab wounds but is expected to recover. A senior officer said, “The accused has been arrested for attempted murder.”
