Parties look to woo voters from minority communities

As the Assembly polls draw near, all political parties are busy preparing for the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana. With the current political scenario, the forthcoming polls are expected to be a multi-cornered battle between the ruling BJP and JJP, and Opposition parties such as the Congress, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state. In such a situation, all the parties are brainstorming and mulling over all possible options.
Every aspect related to wooing the voters is being discussed in election-related meetings. At the same time, caste equations are also considered crucial to winning over voters. A few days ago, caste-based population data was shared by the state government. Prior to this, no such official information had been made available. Since the figures of the caste-based population of the state have now been made public, all parties are zoning in on this angle in a bid to woo voters.
Notably, the Jat community constitutes the maximum number of voters in the state. Divulging the information based on Pariwar Pahchan Patra (PPP) V Umashankar, a senior IAS who holds the portfolio of the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Haryana shared statistics according to which, out of a total 68 lakh verified families and 2.83 crore people, there are a total of 13,68,365 Scheduled Caste families, about 20.71 percent of the total families. Similarly, the number of people from Backward Classes (A) and Backward Classes (B) category families is 47,93,312 and 37,97,306 or 16.93 percent and 13.41 percent respectively overall. It is worth noting that 72 lakh families had applied for making PPP in the state. Notably, there are a total of 17 reserved seats in Haryana, and the Congress has a strong hold among the voters of the SC community as out of a total of 17 reserved, the Congress succeeded in winning a maximum of seven seats.
