Sikhs for Justice’s general counsel, Gurpatwant Pannun, designated as a terrorist by India, has announced that he will provide Rs 10 lakh in legal assistance to the “rebels” involved in the security breach at the Lok Sabha.
“The foundation of Parliament did shake on December 13 and will continue to shake with the start of voter registration for Khalistan Referendum…,” Pannun said.
Pannun’s announcement comes amidst a breach of security in the Lok Sabha yesterday. In a significant security lapse, two intruders, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan, leaped from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha chamber while carrying canisters emitting yellow smoke. They were subsequently subdued by the members of Parliament.
Simultaneously, outside Parliament, two demonstrators, Neelam (42) and Amol (25), utilized gas canisters of a similar color during their protest. All four individuals were arrested later.
Incidentally, the intrusion occurred a few days after Gurpatwant Singh Pannun reportedly issued a threat to attack the Indian Parliament on or before December 13. However, as of now, there is no established connection between the incident on Wednesday and Pannun’s earlier threat this month.
