AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday criticised Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir for his recent comments, likening his tone to that of a “sadakchaap aadmi” (street thug). He expressed disappointment that such a nuclear threat was made while Munir was on US soil.
Call for Political Response from Modi Government
Speaking to ANI, Owaisi said, “Pakistan Army Chief’s words and his threats are condemnable. What’s unfortunate is that this is happening from the US, which is India’s strategic partner. He is speaking like a ‘sadakchaap aadmi’. We believe the Modi government should give a political response like the MEA statement.”
Push for Higher Defence Budget
Referring to Munir’s nuclear threat, Owaisi stressed the need to boost India’s defence spending. “With the constant threat we will have from the Pakistani Army and their deep state, we will have to increase our defence budget so that we can stay prepared,” he said.
Munir’s Controversial Remarks in the US
During his visit to Florida, Munir allegedly said that Pakistan could use nuclear weapons to “take down India and half the world” if it faced an existential threat. He also vowed to defend Pakistan’s water rights “at all costs” and threatened to destroy any dam India builds on the Indus River.

MEA’s Strong Rebuttal
India’s Ministry of External Affairs responded sharply on Monday, saying, “Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade.” The MEA added that the remarks highlight “the irresponsibility” of Pakistan’s military leadership and reinforce “doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control” in a state tied to terrorist groups.
Kashmir Remarks Rekindle Old Rhetoric
Munir also repeated Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, calling it the country’s “jugular vein” and claiming it remains an unresolved international dispute, rejecting India’s position that it is an internal matter.
