Over 5.6 crore voters, 22 lakh youths to debut in upcoming MP elections

The Chief Electoral Commission has released the final voter list. Chief Election Officer Anupam Rajan shared details with the media, highlighting that there are a total of 64,523 polling stations. The general electorate comprises 5 crore 60 lakh 60,925 voters. This includes 2 crore 88 lakh 25,607 male voters, 2 crore 72 lakh 33,945 female voters, and 1,378 third-gender voters. Overseas voters number just 99, while service voters are 75,304, of which 75,304 are males and 2,284 are females. This brings the total voters in the state to 5 crore 61 lakh 36,229.

Other statistics revealed that there are 6 lakh 53 thousand senior citizens aged 80 and above, and 5 lakh 5 thousand 146 differently-abled voters. The gender ratio is 945 females for every 1000 males. Youth voters aged 18 to 19 years old total 22 lakh 26 thousand 564, and new additions to the list stand at 23 lakh 24 thousand. Names can be added up to 10 days before the nomination date, but no names can be removed after the election announcement.

Interestingly, the Sonevani area of the Balaghat legislative assembly constituency has the fewest voters, at just 42. The highest voter turnout, at 89.13%, is recorded in Sailana of the Ratlam district. In contrast, the Jobat legislative assembly of Alirajpur has the lowest voter turnout at 52.84%. The Lakhnadon legislative assembly in Seoni boasts the highest number of polling stations at 407, while Indore Three has the fewest at 193. Additionally, over 22 lakh youths who have turned 18 will cast their first vote this time.
