Delhi is set to witness an elaborate security arrangement for the swearing-in ceremony of the new chief minister at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. More than 25,000 police personnel and over 15 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure law and order, according to officials.

A police spokesperson stated that security has been significantly reinforced, particularly in and around the venue. Over 5,000 police and paramilitary personnel are stationed at the event location, while around 2,500 strategic points across the city have been identified for heavy security deployment.

First-Time MLA Rekha Gupta to Take Oath as CM

Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA, has been selected as the new chief minister of Delhi, bringing an end to 11 days of speculation following the BJP’s return to power after 26 years. Her appointment marks the end of the 10-year rule of the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government.

Gupta, 50, was chosen as Leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly during the BJP legislature party meeting on Wednesday night. Following this, she met Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and formally staked her claim to form the government.

High-Level Attendance Expected

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to draw a gathering of around 50,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Cabinet ministers, and chief ministers from NDA-governed states. Only authorized individuals will be permitted near the venue, with a comprehensive traffic plan implemented to manage movement effectively.

Multi-Layered Security Arrangements

Authorities have set up multiple layers of barricades along with additional security measures to safeguard attendees. Emergency response teams, including commandos, quick reaction teams (QRTs), PCR vans, and SWAT teams, have been deployed at strategic locations across the city.

Snipers have been positioned atop high-rise buildings, while advanced AI-powered facial recognition CCTV cameras are actively monitoring every movement in the vicinity. Officials emphasize that these measures aim to ensure the smooth and secure execution of the high-profile event.
