‘One nation, one election’ an attack on Indian Constitution: Digvijaya Singh

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh spoke to media persons about the Centre’s “One Nation, One Election” plan on Sunday. Referring to former president Ram Nath Kovind’s appointment as chair of the committee that will review the feasibility of the proposed simultaneous polls, the Congress leader said that assigning such a “trivial task” to a former President was an “insult” to a leader like Kovind and said that it was a “minor role.”
Digvijaya Singh arrived in Indore on a one-day tour, and he was welcomed by a large number of Congress leaders at the Indore Airport. Speaking to the media at the airport, Digvijay Singh commented on the statement regarding Hindu Sanatan Dharma made by the son of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister. When asked about One Nation, One Election, he said that the statement made by Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is correct. He also questioned why importance hasn’t been placed on the concept of One Nation, One Income.
He also said that the people of Madhya Pradesh “only think of the BJP” when they see party leaders traveling. When asked about DMK leader Udayanidhi Stalin’s remarks against Hindu Sanatan Dharma, Digvijaya refused to comment, instead saying, “I don’t speak Tamil.”
