Former Norwegian Minister Dr Erik Solheim today at NXT Conclave at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi said that Mahakumbh Mela in 2025 was historical in nature and no such huge gathering was reported anywhere which reflects the deep belief of the people in the Hindu Dharma.
“It (Mahakumbh Mela) was historical. Tens of thousands people gathered at Mahakumbh. Every other religion and ideology can learn from Hindu Dharma,” he said.
Former Norwegian minister for Climate and Environment, Erik Solheim, visited Maha Kumbh in middle of the February. He said that the event was unparalleled and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He also praised the scale and significance of the gathering.
Dr Solheim further called Maha Kumbh not just the largest spiritual event in the world but also biggest human congregation in history.
The 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela was a Hindu pilgrimage festival that took place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh from January 13 to February 26, 2025. It was the world’s largest gathering of people.
The Maha Kumbh Mela is a religious festival that takes place every 12 years. The festival rotates between four sacred cities in India: Haridwar, Ujjain, Nashik, and Prayagraj. The exact location of the festival is determined by the position of the Sun, Moon, and Jupiter. The 2025 festival was unique because the constellation alignment was seen once in 144 years. The festival is a celebration of faith, unity, and tradition. The festival is a movement for sustainability and environmental awareness. The festival is a path to liberation for devotees. 2025 festival details The 2025 festival was held at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The festival was a 45-day event. More than 660 million people took a dip in the river during the festival.
Dr Solheim also said that the time has come to bring the philosophy of Hindu Sharma to the world philosophy of tolerance.
In Hindu religion, they worship half animal half human which is Lord Ganesh and it symbolises respect to the Nature and mankind together.
Talking on the ways to boost the economy that led to the growth of the nation, he said “We need to combine economy and ecology. If we united we succeed and if we separate we will fail.”
He also mentioned that in his recent visit to Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised on the rich natural resources in the state.
PM Modi said that Madhya Pradesh is Bharat’s fifth-largest state in terms of population. It is one of the top states in agriculture and also ranks among the top five states in mineral resources. MP is blessed by the life-giving Maa Narmada. The state has all the potential and possibilities to become one of the top five states in the country by GDP as well.
Madhya Pradesh is set to establish an 800 MW solar park that will cater to the energy needs of both MP and Uttar Pradesh (UP) by alternating supply between the two states every six months.
The solar park will consist of four units of 200 MW each, with power procurement jointly managed by the MP Power Management Company and the UP Power Corporation Limited.
The combination of economy and ecology including the environment will make a nation grow, he said.
India is the world’s 3rd largest renewable energy producer with 46.3% of energy capacity installed as of October 2024 (203.18 GW of 452.69 GW) coming from renewable sources.
