New Delhi: Following the release of the trailer for the upcoming film “Bharat Bhagya Vidhata”—directed by Manoj Tapadia—nurses across the country have expressed their indignation and are actively protesting against it. Specifically, the All India Nurses Federation (AINF) has written to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding the removal of derogatory language used to describe nurses in the trailer for “Bharat Bhagya Vidhata”—a film slated for release on June 12, 2026—and has also requested a special screening of the movie.

Kangana Ranaut plays the role of a nurse in this film. The movie is based on a true incident that occurred at Cama Hospital during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The film depicts how the hospital’s general staff—including nurses, ward boys, and security guards—risked their own lives to confront the terrorists and saved the lives of approximately 400 patients.

However, expressing strong objection to the derogatory language used against nurses in the trailer, the AINF noted in its letter that similar inappropriate language regarding nurses had previously been used on *The Kapil Sharma Show*, and was subsequently removed following their vigorous protests.

In addition to the AINF, the Maharashtra Government Nurses Federation (MGNF) has also written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding this matter, demanding a review of the film. Furthermore, they respectfully requested the following:

1. That the concerned film be thoroughly reviewed with specific reference to the content relating to nurses and the nursing profession.

2. That any objectionable, derogatory, defamatory, or misleading dialogues/scenes concerning nurses be removed or suitably modified before the film is certified for public exhibition.

3. That the film should not be released until it is screened before representatives of the nursing fraternity and their concerns are duly considered.  4. That appropriate measures be taken to ensure that the dignity, reputation, and professional image of nurses are protected.

 5. That the views and objections of recognized nursing organizations be taken into consideration before granting certification to the film.  The nursing community firmly believes in freedom of artistic expression;  however, such freedom should not come at the cost of disrespecting a noble profession that serves humanity around the clock. We therefore request your immediate intervention and appropriate action in this matter.
