A new bomb threat has been sent to schools in Delhi and NCR, triggering an investigation. Noida Police suspect that the threat might be a case of student mischief, especially with exams underway.
Unusual Threat Language
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ram Badan Singh, shared that this bomb threat was different from previous ones. The message was written in a South Indian language. However, after a thorough check, nothing suspicious was found. He explained, “We have checked thoroughly; nothing was found. Exams are going on, and hence, I think it was done by any student. It’s different from threats that were sent earlier; it’s written in South Indian (language). Further investigation is going on.”
Immediate School Closures and Online Classes
As a precaution, affected schools were closed and switched to online classes. Parents were informed of the closures. One guardian commented, “School administration is saying that school is closed today, and the classes will run online… They said nothing, but I think it’s because of the bomb threat.”
Threats Sent to Multiple Schools
Several schools, including Ahlcon International School in Mayur Vihar, Delhi, received bomb threats via email. The police were notified at 6:40 am and the bomb disposal squad checked the premises. No dangerous items were found. The school principal then informed parents via email about the campus closure due to safety concerns.
Similarly, Shiv Nadar School in Noida received a similar threat. Noida police, along with bomb disposal and safety teams, thoroughly inspected the school but found nothing. St. Stephens College in North Delhi was also among the institutions that received a bomb threat.
Police Arrest Juvenile in Previous Hoax Threats
Earlier, Delhi Police cracked down on bomb hoaxes targeting over 400 schools. A juvenile, identified by the Cyber Cell of South District Police, was arrested after a technical investigation. The student had used encrypted emails to send threats, but advanced methods led to his identification. Police recovered a laptop and mobile phones from the student, confirming his involvement in several threatening emails.
On January 8, 2025, 23 schools in Delhi received bomb threats, leading to widespread panic, school closures, and disruptions in academic activities.
