“Meta Has to Apologize to the Indian Parliament”: Nishikant Dubey Calls for Apology Over Zuckerberg’s Poll Loss Comment

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who also serves as the chairperson of the committee on communications and information technology, announced that his team will soon summon Meta following CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s statement about the poll loss of incumbent governments after the Covid pandemic.

“My committee will summon Meta over the false information. Misinformation about any democratic country tarnishes the image of the country. That organisation will have to apologise to the Indian Parliament and the people for this mistake,” Dubey wrote on X.

According to reports, Zuckerberg stated that in elections around the world in 2024, most incumbent governments, including India’s, had been voted out of power.

In response, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw dismissed the statement as “factually incorrect” and emphasized India’s achievements. “From free food for 800 million, 2.2 billion free vaccines, and aid to nations worldwide during COVID, to leading India as the fastest-growing major economy, PM Modi’s decisive 3rd-term victory is a testament to good governance and public trust,” Vaishnaw said.
