Police confirmed that her husband, Vipin Bhati, has been arrested. His father, Satyaveer Bhati, his mother, Daya, and his brother, Rohit Bhati, are on the run.
A horrifying case of dowry violence has shaken Sirsa village in Greater Noida. Nikki, a 28-year-old woman, was allegedly set on fire by her husband and in-laws after repeated demands for ₹35 lakh dowry. She suffered severe burns and later died while being shifted from Noida’s Fortis Hospital to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
Police confirmed that her husband, Vipin Bhati, has been arrested. His father, Satyaveer Bhati, his mother, Daya, and his brother, Rohit Bhati, are on the run.
The most heartbreaking detail is that Nikki’s six-year-old son saw the entire incident. In his statement, the boy said, “Meri mumma ke upar kuch dala, fir unko chanta mara fir lighter se aag laga di.” (They poured something on my mother, slapped her, and set her ablaze with a lighter.)
This chilling testimony has further fueled the public's anger.

Two disturbing videos of the attack are also circulating online. One shows Nikki being assaulted and dragged by her hair. Another clip shows her trying to walk down the stairs while on fire. Reports suggest that Nikki’s elder sister, Kanchan, who is married into the same family, recorded the videos.
These visuals have intensified outrage and raised serious questions about safety for women.
Nikki married Vipin in 2016. At the time of marriage, no dowry was exchanged. But her family later faced constant pressure for ₹35 lakh.
Her sister Kanchan said, “They hit her in her neck and head, threw acid, and carried out atrocities against us.” Both sisters were allegedly tortured for dowry demands.
Even after the crime, Vipin allegedly tried to portray Nikki’s death as a suicide. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “Why did you leave me? The world is calling me a killer, Nikki.”
He also shared a smiling video with Nikki and their son. Police believe this was an attempt to mislead people and deflect blame.
Kanchan also revealed that Nikki’s in-laws wanted to get Vipin remarried. She said, “They wanted my sister gone… they were planning his second marriage.”
She added that both sisters were assaulted together, and she was left unconscious.
Greater Noida ADCP Sudhir Kumar confirmed that police have filed charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, and voluntarily causing hurt under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
While Vipin is in custody, police teams are searching for his absconding relatives.
