Nepal’s Prime Minister expected to travel to India for a three-day visit on 28 April

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, is expected to visit India on April 28, according to sources familiar with the situation. According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister Secretariat, India proposed the date to the Nepalese government. “The Prime Minister also discussed the dates of his visit with the newly appointed Foreign Minister and other officials. The Ministry of External Affairs has proposed that the Prime Minister visit on April 28 “a PM Secretariat official. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has previously visited India twice since taking office.
Dahal visited India in 2008 after attending the Olympic closing ceremony in Beijing. He returned to New Delhi in 2016, his first official visit to the country.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) officials, discussions are underway about air routes via Bhairahawa, hydropower projects, and Kathmandu-Raxaul railways, among other things. Two days ago, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated Nepal’s new Foreign Minister NP Saud on his appointment. As per the release from the Office of the President, Dahal inducted Nepali Congress leader Narayan Prasad Saud as Foreign minister while Nanda Chapai took oath as the state minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport. Both the ministers were administered their oath to post and secrecy at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Kathmandu. Dahal, who was supported by ten parties in the March 20 vote of confidence and has since joined the ruling coalition, was able to bring five more parties on board on Friday.
Despite holding the majority of the ministries, PM Dahal still holds the Ministries of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Forest and Environment, Health and Population, and Youth and Sports.
