Nepalese PM visits Mahakaleshwar temple, inspects Indore’s bio-CNG plant

In a two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh, Nepal’s Prime Minister, Pushpakamal Dahal “Prachanda”, performed prayers at the renowned Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain city and toured Asia’s largest bio-CNG plant `Gobar-Dhan’ in Indore. The visit was marked by a discussion about potentially implementing the acclaimed “Indore model of cleanliness” in Nepalese cities.
The Prime Minister was welcomed at the Mahakaleshwar temple, one of the 12 ‘jyotirlingas’ of the country, by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, state ministers Mohan Yadav, and Jagdish Devda. The temple, particularly the Nandi Hall and sanctum sanctorum, was adorned with floral decorations. A red carpet, along with the echoing sound of conch shells, signalled the arrival of the Nepalese delegation. Donning a saffron-coloured shawl, Prachanda conducted religious rituals inside the temple’s sanctum sanctorum, alongside hymns chanted by priests. He donated 100 ‘rudraksh’ and Rs 51,000 to the temple during the visit.
Following his visit to the temple, Prachanda travelled to Indore, where he visited the bio-CNG plant ‘Gobar-Dhan’, a Rs 150-crore project inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022. During his visit to the plant, Prachanda and his accompanying cabinet colleagues gained insights about the plant’s operations and the city’s exemplary sanitation model, especially its solid waste collection and at-source segregation system.
Prachanda’s schedule included meeting the governor, inspecting a local solid waste management plant, and attending a dinner hosted by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Indore.
