Nearly 49% of 26.16 lakh revenue cases settled in past 3 months in UP

In compliance with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives, efforts made in the past three months have ensured the disposal of nearly twice the number of disputes in Uttar Pradesh compared to the same period last year, according to a press release from the Chief Minister’s office.
As of September 16, 2023, there were a total of 19.57 lakh pending cases, and between September 16 and December 19, 2023, 6.59 lakh new cases were added. Out of the total 26.16 lakh cases, 12.90 lakh cases (49 per cent) have been disposed of in the past three months. This is nearly double the average disposal (6.66 lakh) during the last three months of the previous year, according to the press release.
It is noteworthy that on September 16, 2023, the Chief Minister gave instructions to ensure prompt and quality disposal of pending revenue cases throughout the state. Following these instructions, there has been a rapid improvement in the disposal of revenue disputes through regular comprehensive reviews at the level of the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh and the Chairman of the Revenue Board.
Before September 15, 2022, a total of 20.67 lakh cases were pending at the state level in Uttar Pradesh, and between September 15, 2022, and September 15, 2023, a total of 26.57 lakh new cases were registered. Out of the total 47.25 lakh cases under consideration, a total of 27.67 lakh cases (59 per cent) were resolved throughout the year. The disposal rate for cases within the year remained at 104 per cent from September 15, 2022, to September 15, 2023. Impressively, the disposal rate within the three months from September 16, 2023, to December 19, 2023, surged to 196 per cent.
In the one year from September 15, 2022, to September 15, 2023, a total of 19.22 lakh cases under Section 34 (Transfer) were resolved, while during the review period (September 16, 2023, to December 19, 2023), disposal of 7.77 lakh cases was done in just three months, which is approximately 3 lakh more than the average disposal (4.80 lakh) in the same three months of the previous year.
Similarly, in the one year from September 15, 2022, to September 15, 2023, a total of 83 thousand cases under Section 24/41 (metering) out of 1.95 lakh cases were resolved, while during the review period (September 16, 2023, to December 19, 2023), 89.43 thousand cases were resolved in just three months. This is nearly four times higher than the average disposal (20.70 thousand cases) in the same three months of the previous year.
Furthermore, in the one year from September 15, 2022, to September 15, 2023, a total of 41.03 thousand cases out of a total of 49.12 thousand cases under Section 80 (Declaration from Farmer to Non-Farmer) were resolved.
