NDMC gives nod to crucial proposals for city betterment

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Tuesday approved a range of citizen-centric proposals in its monthly council meeting, passing 14 out of 15 crucial agendas. These initiatives address vital services like mid-day meals, water supply, and pollution control.
During the meeting, NDMC member Kuljeet Chahal underscored the council’s dedication to enhancing the city’s infrastructure and environmental health, especially in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

A notable allocation of Rs 52.79 crore from the budget was earmarked for the collection, transportation, and disposal of construction and demolition (C&D) waste, marking a significant stride in managing urban pollution and fostering sustainability.
According to NDMC vice chairperson Satish Upadhayah, the council aims to establish a kitchen capable of providing mid-day meals to around 7,000 to 8,000 schoolchildren.
This initiative not only addresses hunger but also ensures students receive the necessary nutrition for their physical and cognitive development. Upadhayah mentioned that this meeting is likely the last one before the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Additionally, the Council approved a proposal to increase the number of senior residents by five (05) and junior residents by four (4) at the Post for Dental Care Clinic, Dharam Marg. The decision stems from the growing patient numbers at Dental Care Centre Dharam Marg, New Delhi, necessitating a proportional increase in doctors to maintain the standard and optimum dental care.
Presently, patient waiting times have been on the rise due to a shortage of doctors, leading to avoidable quarrels, complaints, and dissatisfaction among visiting patients.
