NDMC approves tech-driven education agendas in council meeting

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has approved several proposals aimed at benefiting citizens, employees, and advancing technology-driven educational initiatives. During a meeting on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, the NDMC members extended their appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Among the approved proposals, the NDMC has given the go-ahead for the upgrade of 29 computer labs in NDMC schools. Kuljeet Singh Chahal, a council member, revealed to the media that the NDMC had initiated a pilot project by distributing 811 tablets to students in classes 10 and 12 across four schools. The success of this pilot project has led to the expansion of tablet distribution to students in classes 9 to 12, as well as teachers in the same classes, across all NDMC and Navyug Schools.

Chahal stated, “The combined student and teacher population in classes 9 to 12 is 8766. Of these, 8138 tablets are allocated for students, and 628 tablets are designated for teachers for the current academic session (2023-2024). The total proposed tablets for procurement and distribution are 8766, with a slight potential variation based on actual enrollment in the 2024–25 academic session for these four classes (Class 9–12).

Additionally, Chahal announced the NDMC’s approval of a proposal to upgrade computer labs in 29 NDMC and Navyug schools. This initiative encompasses the procurement of computers and peripherals, including preloaded Windows with MS Office and antivirus software, networking infrastructure, interactive flat panels, and printers. The council has also approved a comprehensive on-site warranty for five years to ensure the maintenance of the computer labs.
