NDA Meeting: Nitish’s Remark on Opposition Brings Laughter From PM Modi

After the Lok Sabha election results, attention was on the positions of Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu. JD(U) spokespersons confirmed their commitment to the NDA, and Nitish Kumar reiterated this in PM Modi’s presence.

At the NDA meeting to elect its leader, Rajnath Singh proposed Narendra Modi for Prime Minister, seconded by Nitish Kumar. Kumar emphasized unity and completing pending work, expressing confidence in Modi’s leadership. He humorously noted that those who narrowly won would lose next time, and urged Modi to start his work soon, suggesting an earlier swearing-in if possible.

At the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar said, “…’Next time when you come, those who have won here and there, next time all will lose. I have full confidence’…”

“‘Agli baar jab aap aaiye toh kuch log jo idhar udhar jeet gaya hai, agli baar sab haarega. Humko poora bharosa hai’ (When you come [to power] next time, then those who won a few seats here and there will lose them all. I am confident of that’),” Nitish said,

After his election, Modi, alongside senior NDA members like Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, will meet the President to present a list of supporting MPs and claim the mandate to form the government. Senior BJP figures, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and J P Nadda, are engaging with allies to ensure their representation in the new government, vital for its stability.

Modi previously submitted his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu and is expected to be sworn in again, likely on Sunday, following assurances of support from NDA partners. Both the Congress-led INDIA alliance and the BJP-led NDA have been holding key meetings, as no single party achieved a clear majority to govern independently.
