The National Cadet Corps (NCC) organized a solemn ceremony at SP College, Srinagar, to mark the Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti. The event, attended by approximately 300 cadets alongside war veterans and veer naris, aimed to honor the courageous heroes of the Kargil War and educate the youth about the sacrifices made by the Indian Army.
The celebrations, held in the heart of Srinagar, commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a poignant two-minute silence in remembrance of the fallen soldiers. War veterans shared gripping accounts of their experiences during the Kargil conflict, leaving a profound impact on the audience and inspiring the cadets present.
Leading up to the main event, several activities were organized, including a Drawing Competition centered on the theme of Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti, an Essay Writing Competition, and a tree plantation initiative titled ‘Ek Ped Shaheed ke Naam’.
The event culminated with the stirring rendition of the NCC anthem and a communal tea session, providing a fitting closure to a day dedicated to remembrance and reverence for the sacrifices made by our armed forces.
The tribute at SP College underscored the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas in India’s history and served as a poignant reminder of the bravery and valor exhibited by our soldiers in securing the icy heights of Kargil and Dras.
