The Indian Navy plans to hold this year’s Navy Day celebrations in Puri, Odisha, on December 4. Puri, known for the Lord Jagannath temple, is set to host the event after a preliminary survey led by Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi. On Saturday, five warships anchored off Puri’s coast as part of the preparations.
Admiral Tripathi and other senior Navy officials visited Puri to assess beach conditions and coordinate with the district administration. The Navy is expected to showcase a range of military maneuvers, including air shows and commando operations, during the celebrations.
A Navy rescue ship and warships such as INS Jalashwa, INS Kiltan, and INS Sumedha patrolled off Puri’s coast, drawing public interest and positive reactions from tourists. The Navy Chief also visited Shree Mandir to offer prayers with his family.
Navy Day, observed annually on December 4, will feature a significant naval presence at Puri this year. The Navy has selected the Puri coastline for its display of valor, with a comprehensive surveillance of the area from Digabareni to Sterling.
