Navy Chief addresses Commissioning Ceremony of INS Sandhayak at Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam

Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar addressed the Commissioning Ceremony of INS Sandhayak at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam, emphasizing the Navy’s commitment to developing a balanced ‘Atmanirbhar Force’ for an empowered India.

He stated, “We are carefully crafting a balanced ‘Atmanirbhar Force’ in service of an ascended Bharat.” Admiral Kumar welcomed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, highlighting the significance of the ceremony for the commissioning of INS Sandhayak. Referring to the vessel’s name, which means ‘one who carries out a special search,’ he noted its importance in hydrographic surveys and its role in supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Mission SAGAR (Security And Growth for All in the Region).

INS Sandhayak, a state-of-the-art survey vessel, is equipped for coastal and deep-water hydrographic surveys, with potential hospital ship capabilities. Admiral Kumar underscored the Navy’s commitment to indigenously building diverse platforms and introduced INS Sandhayak as the 34th addition to the Navy’s assets, highlighting its versatility and contribution to India’s self-reliant defense capabilities.
