National Ayurveda Day: Honoring Lord Dhanvantari and Ayurveda innovations

The National Institute of Ayurveda celebrated the 9th National Ayurveda Day, honoring the ancient science of Ayurveda and its contributions to health. The event began with a traditional worship and havan for Lord Dhanvantari, conducted by Assistant Professor Chandra Mohan. This sacred ritual aimed to bless everyone with prosperity and positive energy for healthcare practitioners.
The faculty and staff attended a virtual viewing of the main event held at the All-India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated health initiatives worth Rs 13,000 crore.
The main program in Panchkula at NIA began with Haryana Director General of Police, Shatrujeet Kapoor, as the chief guest. Distinguished guests included the President of Haryana Arogya Bharati, Pawan Gupta, and Professor Sanjay Jachak, former Head of the Department of Natural Products, NIPER Mohali, as the keynote speaker. NIA Dean Gulab Chand Pamnani, Dean-in-Charge Satish Gandharva, and Gaurav Kumar Garg, DMS, also participated in the program.
The inauguration began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp, the Dhanvantari prayer, and a floral welcome for the guests. Assistant Professor Pooja Hasan presented a summary of the various activities organized for the occasion. In his keynote, Satish Gandharva discussed the holistic health principles of Ayurveda, while Gulab Chand Pamnani emphasized commitment to individual and community health.
Chief Guest Shatrujeet Kapoor encouraged involvement in positive actions and inspiring others. A video on the institute’s activities was shown, and Gaurav Kumar Garg highlighted the hospital’s work, announcing quiz competition winners who were awarded by Pawan Gupta.Additionally, SanjayJachak led a special seminar on “Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health,” exploring the scientific basis of Ayurvedic herbs and their role in addressing modern health challenges.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prahlad Raghu, followed by the national anthem. This ceremony strengthened pride and commitment toward Ayurveda.
