A fresh political row has broken out in Karnataka after a video surfaced of a group performing Namaz inside the Bengaluru International Airport. The opposition, BJP, quickly raised strong objections to it, citing concerns about safety in a high-security zone like the airport.
Namaz at Terminal 2 Causes Stir
The controversy centers on Terminal 2 of the airport, where the prayer was offered. Vijay Prasad, a spokesperson for the Karnataka BJP, shared his criticism in a post online. He asked how the act was allowed inside the terminal.
How is this even allowed inside the T2 Terminal of Bengaluru International Airport?
Hon’ble Chief Minister @siddaramaiah and Minister @PriyankKharge do you approve of this?Did these individuals obtain prior permission to offer Namaz in a high-security airport zone?

Prasad asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his cabinet minister, Priyank Kharge, whether they gave their approval for the prayer in the high-security airport area.
He said such a religious activity in a restricted public place presented a potential security threat. Reports say the people offering the prayer were relatives of passengers who were leaving for Mecca. The criticism by the BJP spokesperson went further to accuse the state government of “double standards.”

RSS March vs Namaz Debate
Prasad pointed out that the government objects when the RSS holds its marches, known as Patha Sanchalana, even when the RSS has permission. He asked why the government ignores the Namaz being offered in a restricted public area like the airport.
The controversy breaks out just days after Minister Priyank Kharge himself had questioned the transparency and accountability of the RSS.
Last week, Kharge had publicly demanded to know why the RSS kept its activities secret and how it could hold large-scale marches without being a registered organization.
The continuous tussle between the two parties has brought to the fore political polarization in the state over issues related to public space, religious activities, and organizational opaqueness.
