Naam Tamilar Katchi will go alone in LS elections: Seeman

On October 19th, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman spoke to the media in Salem, Tamil Nadu, and categorically stated that his party would go alone in the Lok Sabha elections and not forge any alliances.

Seeman stated, “Even when AIADMK held talks on an alliance, the Naan Tamilar Katchi turned it down as the principles of both these parties are different.” The NTK leader also said if PM Narendra Modi contested the LS polls, then he would stand against him.

He also weighed in on the Cauvery row and said that the DMK should have broken away from the I.N.D.I.A. Bloc as Congress was denying water to the people of Tamil Nadu. He added that although his party had differing views with the DMK on various issues and policies, however, he would not accept the disrespect shown to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin by the agitators in Karnataka during the bandh.

The Cauvery row has been making headlines in recent months with various party leaders in Tamil Nadu condemning the DMK for not ensuring that the farmers in the state received the Cauvery water supply as per the order of the Cauvery Water Management Authority.

Seeman also spoke about the assault on Tamil Nadu fishermen by Sri Lanka and criticized both the state and Centre for not taking any action on this. The NTK leader expressed confidence that at some point the party would form the government soon in Tamil Nadu.

On the issue of AIADMK snapping ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Seeman said that he presumed that it was a permanent breakdown of the alliance and not just a rift between the AIADMK and the BJP.
