A 21-year-old woman in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly raped and killed by her elder sister’s husband and two others, who subsequently burned her body in an attempt to eliminate evidence, police stated on Saturday. The suspect, known as Ashish, was allegedly coercing the woman into marrying him, as reported by news agency PTI citing police. The event occurred in the village of Bavana within the Budhana area.The woman’s family filed a missing person report on January 23, police mentioned.

Authorities indicated that the accused, together with his accomplices, deceived the woman into leaving her home, sexually assaulted her, and ultimately strangled her to death. They are said to have subsequently burned her remains to conceal the evidence, police stated. Ashish was apprehended, after which he admitted to the crime, an official report cited.

The woman’s burnt remains have been recovered, and a forensic examination is currently in progress, the official noted on Saturday. A case has been filed against the suspects, and efforts are being made to locate the two individuals who are on the run. Strict measures will be enforced against those responsible, and further inquiries are ongoing, he stated.

Teen raped in cafe in Muzaffarnagar

In a separate case from Muzaffarnagar, a 15-year-old girl was reportedly raped by two men at a cafe in the district on Monday, according to police. The girl’s family filed a complaint against the alleged offenders — Vishal, his companion Ankit, and cafe owner Akshay Sharma — leading to their arrest, Circle Officer Rupali Rao informed PTI. The family claimed that the girl, who is a Class 10 student, was summoned to the cafe where she was then assaulted by Vishal and Ankit, the officer reported.

She indicated that the cafe owner was also taken into custody for facilitating illegal activities at his establishment. A case has been opened against the alleged perpetrators under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, she added.

The girl was referred for a medical examination, police confirmed.
