Mumbai Techie Jumps From Atal Setu After Stopping Car: On Camera

On a busy Wednesday afternoon, a tragic incident unfolded on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, also known as Atal Setu. A 38-year-old engineer, identified as K. Shriniwas, took his own life by jumping from the bridge.

CCTV footage reveals that Shriniwas, a resident of Dombivli, had driven his Tata Nexon to the Nhava Sheva end of the bridge around 12:30 pm. After stopping his vehicle, he climbed over the railing and leaped to his death.

Family members disclosed that Shriniwas had been facing severe financial difficulties, which they believe contributed to his decision. The police also noted that Shriniwas had attempted suicide previously by ingesting floor cleaner while working in Kuwait in 2023.

In the hours leading up to the tragedy, Shriniwas had left his home around 11:30 pm the previous night. Before heading to the bridge, he made a final call to his wife and four-year-old daughter.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, authorities, including the Navi Mumbai Police, Atal Setu rescue teams, coastal police, and local fishermen, initiated a search operation. Efforts to recover Shriniwas’s body are ongoing.
