Mumbai Braces For Torrential Downpour: IMD Issues Alert, High Tide At 1:57 PM

Mumbai experienced severe rainfall, recording over 300 mm of rain in various locations within six hours from 1 am to 7 am on Monday. This heavy downpour has led to significant waterlogging and disrupted suburban train services across the city.

Schools and Colleges Closed

Due to the heavy rains, a holiday has been declared for the first session for all BMC, Government, and Private schools and colleges in the Mumbai BMC area. The decision for the next session will be reviewed and announced later.

NDRF Teams Deployed Across Maharashtra

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed teams to various parts of Maharashtra to handle any flood-like situations. Teams are stationed in Thane, Vasai (Palghar), Mahad (Raigad), Chiplun (Ratnagiri), Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sindhudurg. Regular deployments include three teams in Andheri and one team in Nagpur.

IMD Predicts Continued Heavy Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that heavy rain will persist in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra for the next three days, until July 10.
