Mumbai has been ranked the fifth happiest city in the world for 2025, with 94% of locals saying the city makes them happy, according to Time Out’s global survey.

Mumbai got one more name added to its list 'The Happiest City' in addition to the tag of 'City of Dreams'. It has now been declared the happiest city in Asia for 2025 in a global survey conducted by the popular urban magazine Time Out.

Mumbai proudly took the fifth spot in the ranking of the world's happiest cities for 2025, according to the latest Time Out annual global survey. Its vibrant culture, strong community ties, and unbeatable spirit of resilience have together taken this city to the status of one of the happiest places to live in, globally.

Abu Dhabi Tops the Global List

It named Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, as the happiest city in the world. The ranking was in light of responses from more than 18,000 residents across continents on aspects relating to culture, cuisine, lifestyle, and overall quality of life.

According to the Time Out 2025 report, 94% of Mumbai residents said living in the city makes them happy, showing its strong community spirit and positive vibe despite the busy lifestyle.

Mumbai has got 5th rank in the world's happiest city list as residents think that Mumbai has ability to thrive amidst challenges and the deep sense of belonging that keeps its people enthusiastic, living, laughing, and  keep loving every moment.

The Top 10 Happiest Cities in the World for 2025

The Top 10 Happiest Cities in the World for 2025, according to Time Out, highlight a diverse mix of cultures and continents. Leading the list is Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, followed by Medellin in Colombia and Cape Town in South Africa.

Mexico City in Mexico ranks fourth, while Mumbai in India ranks on the fifth position. The sixth and seventh spots were secured by Beijing and Shanghai in China, showing the growing happiness levels in Asia’s urban centers.
