Delhi schools receive bomb threats on Monday morning, initiating evacuation and security checks across the campus.

Officials confirmed that the targeted schools, which received these threats included Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Modern Convent School, and ShreeRam World School in Sector 10, Dwarka.

Police Force, Bomb Disposal Squads, and Delhi Fire Services quickly reached the areas and started their investigation and campus search. “All students and staff have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Search operations are underway,” a Delhi Police officer said.

Previous Bomb Threats

This bomb threat follows a series of Hoax threats in the past few months. On July 18, over 50 schools reported getting bomb threats via email in a single morning. It initiated mass evacuation. St Xavier’s in Civil Lines, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, Abhinav Public School in Rohini, and The Sovereign School in Rohini were among the targeted schools.

St Stephen’s College and St Thomas School, Dwarka also got such threats, earlier in July, just after a day, three other schools were threatened. On July 17, seven schools were targeted, making it the third consecutive day of such hoax threats.

Later, police tracked one of these emails to a 12-year-old boy from South Delhi, who sent the emails as a prank. He was sent home after counselling.

Investigation Underway

Even though the past threats were all fake, this has created fear among parents and school authorities regarding the safety of children.

“Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers would be going through. BJP controls all four engines of governance in Delhi, and is yet not able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking!” AAP leader and former Chief Minister of Delhi stated.

The officials made it clear that the evacuation process will be carried out whenever such threats are reported. An investigation is underway to trace the source of the DPS Dwarka email threat.
