The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) has announced its support to BJP in Telangana Assembly elections. The Madiga community constitutes at least 50% of the total Scheduled Castes in the state, and has issued a national circular, rallying support from its affiliated unions, including MSP, MSF, MMS, VHPS, MEF, MLF, MJF, MKM, and MYS, in a fervent campaign backing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

MRPS claims to represent Madigas, the largest community among the Scheduled Castes (SCs) in the state, and it has been fighting for categorisation of SCs in reservation. Saluting the dedicated activists of the social movement, the MRPS emphasised its commitment to the BJP, citing concerns over historic injustices perpetrated by the Congress in the classification of Scheduled Caste (SC) reservations.

The decision came a few days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting of MRPS in Hyderabad and announced that the Centre would soon form a committee which would adopt all possible ways for empowering Madigas.

MRPS founder president Manda Krishna Madiga has urged MRPS and all its nine other community organisations to work for the victory of BJP candidates in the 30 November Assembly elections. Congress in the classification of Scheduled Caste (SC) reservations.

“We should not forget that Congress has done us great injustice in the matter of classification of SC reservations,” declared Manda Krishna Madiga. He pointed to the long-standing rule of the Congress party in the country and the united Telugu state, asserting that reports from various committees and commissions validate the injustice suffered by the Madigala community during the Congress rule.

Highlighting the negligence of Congress in addressing favourable reports from commissions, the MRPS accuses the party of consistently ignoring the plight of Madigalas and failing to take decisive actions in favour of SC classification.

“As true as it is that we have suffered grave injustice under the Congress rule, it is equally true that the Congress has neglected our SC classification,” added Madiga.

Reports from commissions suggest that the Congress government, even during its opposition tenure in the past decade, did not legitimise SC classification in the Parliament. The MRPS alleged that Congress remained silent on the issue in Parliament and did not advocate for Madigalas by writing a single letter to the Center in support of SC classification.

The MRPS also condemned the alleged conspiracies by KCR, stating that beyond cheating the community, KCR has deprived Madigalas of opportunities in the cabinet and politically marginalised them.

In conclusion, the MRPS called upon its supporters and the public at large to actively contribute to the BJP campaign for the upcoming elections, framing the effort as a critical step toward justice for the Madigala community.
