Delhi-NCR areas opened their eyes on Monday morning to a bath of heavy rain, with the India Meteorological Department issuing an orange alert for Gurugram and Faridabad. Apart from that, a yellow alert has been activated for other areas, the weather panel indicated.
Lower alerts have already been released for Gurugram and Faridabad for Tuesday as well. The fresh rain advisories follow a day after Ghaziabad was placed on red alert for rain and Noida on orange alert for the daytime of August 31.

Meanwhile, the level of water in Yamuna kept rising above the danger mark, with the river appearing visibly puffed up in images this morning.
The river crossed the danger mark of 205.33 meters a few days ago too, with an upward trend predicted. "We are witnessing an upward trend, which is expected to go on after midnight. The flood control room was already informed through loudspeaker about the rain alert and even through boats.

Cool weather prevailed in the month of September, and we will see a drop in temperature along with scattered rain showers. The excess rainfall for the month was 400.1 mm, which is 72% above the monthly long-period average (LPA) of 233.1 mm. Previously, August was said to be the coldest for the city in 13 years.
The same wet spell is also forecast for September, the IMD had previously said. According to previous trends, September usually gets 123.5 mm of rain but made a big exception last year at 200 mm of rain. An excess this year is likely to push Delhi’s annual rainfall total beyond the 1,000 mm mark.
