A woman was found murdered in a hotel in Mohali, Punjab, on Thursday, with her live-in partner confessing to the crime. The victim, identified as Sunita, was from Sultanpur village in Nawashehar (SBS Nagar) and was in a relationship with Sunil, also from Nawashehar and an electrician with a four-year-old son.
The hotel staff discovered the crime when they noticed the door of Sunita’s room ajar. Upon investigation, they found her body on the bed, covered in blood from multiple stab wounds.
According to police, Sunil suspected Sunita of infidelity, leading to a violent confrontation where he stabbed her repeatedly. Sunil had called Sunita to Mohali three days prior, and both were staying at the hotel.
Sunil surrendered to the Gharshankar police station and was subsequently arrested by the Mohali police. DSP (city-1) Mohit Aggarwal confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation was ongoing. The victim’s identity was confirmed through her Aadhaar Card, which she had provided during check-in.
