Modi’s Swearing-In: Neighbouring Global Leaders Invited for Weekend Ceremony

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended invitations to the Prime Ministers of Nepal, Bangladesh, and Mauritius, the President of Sri Lanka, and the King of Bhutan for his upcoming swearing-in ceremony, according to sources familiar with the matter as per report.

The invitations were extended to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Nepal, and Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius, along with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude to each of these leaders for their congratulations on the electoral success of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections.

In a series of tweets, Prime Minister Modi mentioned his telephone conversations with these leaders and conveyed his appreciation for their warm wishes.

“Happy to receive call from my friend President Joe Biden. Deeply value his warm words of felicitations and his appreciation for the Indian democracy. Conveyed that India-US Comprehensive Global Partnership is poised to witness many new landmarks in the years to come. Our partnership will continue to be a force for global good for the benefit of humanity” tweeted PM Modi.

“I thank Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her warm wishes. India and Bangladesh share historic relations, which have seen unprecedented growth in the last decade. I look forward to working together to further strengthen our people-centric partnership,” said PM Modi in a post on social media platform X.

Expressing his gratitude, Prime Minister Modi mentioned, “Thank you, Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, for your call and heartfelt wishes. I look forward to continued collaboration between our two countries to further strengthen the special India-Mauritius relationship in my third term.”

He also highlighted his conversation with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Nepal, saying, “Happy to speak with PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Thanked him for his warm wishes. We reaffirmed our shared commitment to bolster the deep-rooted and multifaceted partnership between India and Nepal, and agreed to sustain the positive momentum in our relations.”

Acknowledging the call from the Bhutanese King, Prime Minister Modi stated, “I thank His Majesty the King of Bhutan for his call and warm wishes. Bhutan-Bharat partnership is unique and exemplary. I look forward to continuing working together and taking this extraordinary partnership to higher levels.”

Additionally, numerous global leaders including US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, and many others congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the NDA’s electoral victory.
