Mizoram: Assam Rifles recovers huge amount of foreign currency, warlike stores

In the Siaha area of Mizoram, the troops of the Assam Rifles apprehended two people and recovered a sizable sum of foreign currency.

On Saturday, the Lunglei Battalion, working under the supervision of the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), successfully retrieved a sizable sum of foreign cash. According to specific information, the operation was conducted close to the Zawngling area in Block Tuipang of the Siaha district, according to the PRO of the IG of the Assam Rifles (East).

“The team had specific information about the movement of a vehicle on the Saiha—Tuipang—Zawngling—Chankang road axis. The Assam Rifles team established a vehicle checkpost, which intercepted the vehicle.
“During the search operation, a huge amount of Myanmar and Indian currency was recovered. Two persons were also apprehended,” the PRO of IG of Assam Rifles (East) said.

The amount of money retrieved from Myanmar was 73,43,700 Kyat, which is equal to Rs 2,84,568.72 in Indian rupees.

The Customs Department, Lunglei, received all of the people who had been detained and the recovered property.

The Lunglei Battalion of the Assam Rifles, on the other hand, apprehended four citizens of Myanmar on Saturday and found a sizable stockpile of military-style supplies close to Block Tuipang in the Siaha region.

Three boxes of.177 pellets, 500 rounds of 12 gauge (70 mm) ammunition, 22.42 kg of gun powder, three Kenbo bikes, and other tactical supplies like tactical vests, gloves, battle uniforms, and boots were all retrieved by the Assam Rifles men.
