The Messi GOAT India Tour 2025 kicked off in Kolkata, but the start was far from smooth. Fans faced chaotic, almost stampede-like conditions as large crowds tried to catch a glimpse of Lionel Messi, leaving many frustrated and raising safety concerns.

With the Mumbai leg set for December 14, authorities are already preparing for massive footfall and traffic snarls across south Mumbai. The Mumbai Police issued a detailed advisory to manage crowds and keep roads safe between 12:00 PM and 11:00 PM, urging commuters to plan.

Messi India Tour 2025: Traffic Advisory; No Parking Near Stadiums

To prevent congestion around the match venues, police announced no parking at Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium. Commuters are urged to use public transport such as local trains, BEST buses, and the metro.

Restricted parking applies to:

  • C Road
  • D Road
  • E Road
  • F Road
  • G Road
  • N.S. Road (both directions)
  • Veer Nariman Road
  • Dinshaw Vachha Road
  • Jamshethji Tata Road

Payandpark facilities on Veer Nariman Road and Dinshaw Vachha Road will remain suspended.

OneWay Traffic & Road Closures

To manage heavy movement, Mumbai Police will implement temporary oneway traffic changes:

  • D Road: West to east from N.S. Road to C & E Road junction
  • E Road: Southbound from D Road to the C Road junction
  • Veer Nariman Road: Restricted southbound access from Churchgate Junction to E Road

Road closures include:

  • Chandra Bose Road (northbound): Netaji Subhash Air India Junction to Mafatlal Junction
  • Coastal Road: Both southbound and northbound between Worli/Tardeo and Marine Drive

Alternative Routes

Police suggested commuters use:

  • Ramnath Poddar Chowk, Maharshi Karve Road, Opera House, Charni Road, Marine Lines
  • Alternate routes will help drivers bypass main closures and minimize delays.
  • Use Public Transport
  • With streets crowded, authorities strongly advised public transport for smooth travel:
  • Mumbai local trains
  • Metro Lines
  • BEST buses

This will reduce congestion and ensure fans reach the venue safely.

Lionel Messi’s India Tour 2025 spans four major cities:

  • Kolkata: The Event kicked off with chaos and long queues
  • Hyderabad: Fans can attend the upcoming public event
  • Mumbai: Wankhede Stadium on December 14
  • New Delhi: Finale includes a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Messi will be joined by Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul at multiple stops, increasing fan excitement and expected turnout.

Limited Parking Still Available

Some essential pay-and-park slots near Churchgate Railway Station, H.T. Parekh Marg, Dorabaji Tata Road, and Vidhan Bhavan (MMRDA) remain open but may fill quickly.

With Messi drawing thousands of fans, commuters are urged to plan early, avoid peak hours, and use public transport to reduce congestion and ensure a smooth visit on December 14.
